The International Space Station (ISS) is one of the most popular objects for keen amateur astronomers. Along with observing the stars and planets you can also observe the movement of the ISS when of course it passes over you.
To locate it from Earth, NASA has a web tool called Spot The Station that lets you find it easily when it is expected to pass through the sky above you. The tool asks for your current location and gives you a timeline of when ISS will be visible in the coming days.
You can visit it NASA website and click on key "Lease Lookup”. From there, state the country and city you live in and press the NEXT button.
You will be given a timeline of when the station becomes visible, how long it will remain visible, and at what direction and angle it will appear and disappear. You can share the schedule on Facebook and on Twitter, sign up to receive notifications when the station becomes visible in your area and notify via RSS feed.
If you scroll down the page, you will also see when the Cygnus bus will be visible in your area. He is currently on his way to the ISS to renew his supplies and should be moored on December 9, 2015. If the station is visible in your area at the date and time of the space shuttle connection then you will have the opportunity for a very good astronomical observation.
