Firefox is considered the first alternative after Chrome, although Microsoft is trying to establish Edge. Firefox is constantly being developed and each version that comes out offers or improves something functionalnature of the application.
So with the latest release of Firefox in 61.0.2, the Mozilla Foundation reportedly added a new feature that you may not have noticed, but it can prove to be particularly useful.
The new function is called automatic restoring of browsing sessions and as its name says it provides the ability to automatically restore tabs browsing even when the Windows restart to finish installing an update or when you shut down Windows yourself without closing the browser first.
While this feature is only supported by Firefox 61.0.2 in Windows, it will gradually be released for the other platforms supported by its application Mozilla Foundation.
At this time, this feature is not enabled by default but will be enabled in the coming weeks.
Below we will see that with a simple tweak you can turn on automatic browser navigation restoration in Windows Firefox:
In the Firefox Address bar, type about: config.
A warning will appear message which states that you will void your warranty: changing these advanced settings may be harmful to the stability, security, and performance of this application. You should only proceed if you are sure of what you are doing….
Click Accept and then in the search box at the top of the screen type the following line:
toolkit.winRegisterApplicationRestart
Alternatively, all the steps described above can be found at the following address:
about: config? filter = toolkit.winRegisterApplicationRestart
which you can copy and paste into its address bar Mozilla Firefox, though you should still see the warning if you've never opened that particular settings screen.
By default, this setting is set to false. What you need to do to enable the setting is to double-click to change the value from false to true.
After the changes, Firefox will automatically restore the tabs you have open the next time you restart the computer without closing the browser.
