Firefox Lockwise: Remember Firefox Lockbox, an internal code management application designed to improve the embedded Firefox password manager? The service is still growing, but now it's called Firefox Lockwise.
The Mozilla Foundation has released an alpha version of Firefox Lockbox in December of 2017 as a Firefox add-in to test and improve password management and Internet security.
Firefox Lockwise is a password management application and is available for devices iOS and Android. From today it is like add-on for Firefox.
The Firefox browser already includes a password manager and users can use it to sync passwords between different Firefox installations.
Firefox Lockwise is an experimental solution that brings Firefox passwords to Android and iOS devices. The system uses Firefox Sync and requires a Firefox account to be able to sync passwords.
The basic differences between synchronizing Firefox passwords between different installations on desktops and mobile devices with Firefox Lockwise is that Lockwise supports the automatic completion of passwords on the mobile device everywhere, and that there is no processing capability.
Firefox Löckwise could replace the current internal password management application but is currently only available as a Firefox add-in and needs installation.
You should know that Lockwise will not work if a master password is set.
The add-on adds an icon to the main Firefox toolbar, from which you can open the application.
All existing passwords are listed on the left. Lockwise automatically saves all passwords saved by Firefox, provided that no master password is set.
Lockwise can at some point replace the embedded Firefox browser password manager. But for now, it does not add anything new except autocomplete.
