The Flyby11 is an open source script for Windows 11 that helps administrators to upgrade a device to the latest version, even if the computer does not meet all system requirements.
Microsoft released Windows 11 24H2. The new version brings more AI functions and some other features like sudo for Windows or support for Wi-Fi 7.
The new version of Windows 11 is special because it is the first version that prevents some devices from upgrading. Microsoft has blocked direct installations or upgrades on unsupported devices from the start, and this version is the first to prevent very old devices from using workarounds to install the system. Microsoft has removed some Windows 11 upgrade options that worked in the past. FlyBy11 supports both remaining options. But it is not the only tool that does it. The Rufus, for example, also supports one of these options.
Good to know: this particular version affects devices no SSE4.2 support. All modern processors of the last decade support SSE4.2. However, previous versions of Windows 11 can be installed on these devices.
So here comes Flyby11: an open source tool for upgrading to Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.
Flyby11 is designed to remove restrictions that prevent upgrading to Windows 11 24H2 on unsupported devices. It can't be used for new installations, but if you want to do an upgrade, it's one of the tools you can use.
The app offers all the “methods to bypass restrictions for installing Windows 11 24H2 on unsupported hardware,” according to the developer.
A few words about the developer: Belim has created many open source tools from time to time, such as This Is Win11, Winpilot ή xd - AntiSpy.
Flyby11 supports two methods:
-
- The upgrade via Server setup.
-
- The upgrade through registry modifications.
The new version added another installation method to facilitate Windows 11 24H2 upgrade on officially supported systems, simplifying the update process. So if you need it, use method (direct) 3 Here's how to use the app:
Download the latest version of the app from GitHub. Extract the contents to the local system by right-clicking and selecting “extract all > export” Run the application. If you see the warning “Windows protected your PC”, select More Info > Run anyway. Confirm the security prompt by clicking the yes button.
Choose the first or second method. You might want to start with the first one. Select the Fido script option, which is required to download the latest Windows 11 24H2 ISO from Microsoft.
After downloading, select the option to mount and run the ISO.
Follow the instructions until the upgrade is complete. If this method doesn't work, try the second method.
Note: Proceed at your own risk. The application does not support new installations on unsupported hardware.
