Google has announced that its Gemini Live voice chat feature is now free for all Android users. The feature allows you to have a natural, ongoing conversation with your AI assistant, like what's offered in ChatGPT's voice chat capabilities.
This release of Gemini Live comes a month after it was first shown at Google's Pixel 9 launch event. It was previously only available to subscribers of the Gemini Advanced package. So now Google is opening it up to a much wider audience.
All Android users need to do to try out the new voice chat feature is to select the waveform icon located in the lower right corner of the Gemini app.
This activates the microphone, pot will listen to the users questions. Once activated, Gemini Live opens in full-screen mode, with “Hold” and “End” buttons at the bottom.
We're starting to roll out Gemini Live in English to more people using the Android app, free of charge. Go Live to talk things out with Gemini, explore a new topic, or brainstorm ideas. Keep an eye out for Gemini Live in the Gemini app 👀 pic.twitter.com/0VL0c7E6Gw

The voice chat feature provides tons of voice options for the assistant, in tone and “personality”.
For now, the company said that Gemini Live is only available in English, but promised to release it in other languages at some point in the future. Support for Gemini Live is finally coming to iOS.
What I never understood is why the Greek language is not supported. I don't understand the difficulty anymore. As long as the translation exists. Will it burden the servers so much to simultaneously do translation along with the rest?
Does it have to do with programming? I don't understand. The assistant has never played with Greek either. The absurd thing is that I remember about a year ago on one of the devices that have passed through my hands I spoke to the assistant in Greek and it worked normally for some time (about 2 months). At the same time I had crossed that it only did it to me since my friends' different mobiles could not do it. I didn't pay attention and at some point the feature disappeared. I don't remember what setting I did but it played fine. That is, I asked what the weather would be like today and he answered normally. I was telling him to count down for 10 minutes normally. What time is it and so on.
Strange though.
Well done to GOOGLE!!!!!
