Amazing video shows a truck at a pier in Los Angeles, carrying a container full of lithium batteries, explode and catch fire for almost an entire day, shutting down the port.
A truck overturned in the commercial port of Los Angeles in America. A drone filming the incident managed to have the container that was loaded explode, open its doors and then catch fire.
It was loaded with lithium-ion batteries and the result was that it was shut down in the Port of Los Angeles and the neighboring port of Long Beach for 15 hours.
The local fire department left the truck to burn as extinguishing chemical fire from batteries it is very difficult. The explosion was recorded by a local towing company with a drone and broadcast on Instagram:

As we have seen with many EV battery fires, large lithium battery fires can be very difficult to put out. Firefighters sometimes douse them with thousands of liters of water, effectively trying to cool the batteries. But the usual result is that the fire starts again as the next cells in the battery heat up to the point of burning.
Pepe's Tow Service owner Josh Acosta, who filmed the explosion with his drone, plans to release more footage as he said: “The full YouTube video is going to be crazy!!!”.
