The FOSSCOMM (Free and Open Source Software Communities Meeting) is the panhellenic conference of the free software and open source software communities. It is aimed mainly at developers, students and in general anyone interested in open source regardless of their knowledge background.
Open source communities are involved, such as Union Hellenic Linux Users and Friends (HELLUG), groups of developers and project contributors such as Mozilla, Fedora, OpenSuse, KDE, etc. The content is of wide interest, from technical issues and workshops, to translations, legal issues, policy issues related to free/open software, etc. There is no registration fee to participate.
FOSSCOMM usually lists some hundreds of participants, with the highest turnout so far recorded in the 2011 Patras event, with about 450 entries. It is held annually by 2008 and to date 6 has been organized in different cities. The event is organized by volunteers and its funding is based on sponsorships and donations.
FOSSCOMM 2018 will take place at the Department of Computer Science University of Crete, at Vouton University of Heraklion. You can find photos, maps and data communication on the departmental website.
