With fingerprint scanners having entered smartphones for a long time, Fujitsu went one step further, announcing that it has developed an eye iris recognition system that has incorporated a smartphone prototype.
Just by looking at the smartphone screen, the user's iris is scanned and the phone unlocks.
As the company claims, this system has a clear advantage over code or fingerprint, as it is difficult to forge and convenient to use. The screen is unlocked with the look, which means that the user's hands are free in every case.

The system "reads" the eye with infrared LED light, pulling a photo to store its shape, which is then used for comparison / confirmation.
The two main parts of the system are a special, high performance LED, and a dedicated infrared camera, combined with camera control and biometric identification technologies that have been developing for years.
As far as its range is concerned, the distance required is the standard that a user holds when using his cellphone - that is, it is not required to approach the eye at 10 centimeters. It is noted that on the basis of tests that have been carried out, the infrared LED light is harmless to the eyes.
