With the aim of bringing together and promoting Greek talent in the creative industries and their interconnection, through the technologyς, με τους τομείς του Πολιτισμού και του Τουρισμού, ο Συνεργατικός Σχηματισμός Ψυχαγωγικών και Δημιουργικών Τεχνολογιών & Εφαρμογών - gi-Cluster, managed within just five years of its launch to grow rapidly and to be among the fewer clusters worldwide in the field of creative industries who have received the top distinction of excellence "Gold label"By the European Cluster Analysis Secretariat (ESCA).
This top distinction of the gi-Cluster, which simultaneously achieves the placement of Greece on the world "map" of Creative Industries, is the result of a steady course of development of the domestic chainof the value of the creative economy which, against the crisis, develops innovative products and services which are exported and distinguished in the world market, while at the same time conducting research and development on an equal footing with the leading European research and academic pockets of excellence.
The innovation ecosystem of gi-Cluster, under its management Corallia, is now approaching 60 members and dozens of other partners, including small and medium enterprises, startups, academic institutions, research centers, technology institutes and other innovation institutions covering a wide range of the digital digital creative economy.
About half of the members of gi-Cluster focus on the Entertainment Technologies and Applications industry by developing software and applications of entertainment & educational character as well as technological solutions and gamification tools, while the rest are active in the development of Creative Content and Audiovisual Applications such as of Culture, modern services and applications for the Tourism industry and production of digital multimedia material.
It is typical that according to relative study of the European Commission, in the next three years, the European digital creative economy market alone is expected to grow by €63 billion and create 5 million new jobs, which is directly due to the catalytic introduction of IT in the Creative Industries.
Gi-Cluster is the only ecosystem in Greece that cultivates this new multi-sector collaboration environment in the creative economy, combining application development, online services and data management with visual arts, social and human sciences, audiovisual productions and other related sectors.
The ultimate goal of gi-Cluster is to exploit the proliferation factor of our country's strong competitive advantages in the fields of Tourism and Culture and to promote the Greek creative economy as a major lever for the development and research activity of Europe.
