For the first time, a document proves the government-Intellexa relationship

The disclosure of a document linking Intellexa to KEMEA, with the document also being the first contractual text in which there is essentially a description of the Predator spyware, was made by "Vima tis Kyriakis" and Vasilis Lambropoulos, with the Predator victims' lawyer emphasizing to MEGA and "Evolutions Now" that he is certain to join the investigation into the wiretapping.

In particular, the newspaper and the police editor reveal documents that appear to have been prepared by the Center for Security Studies and the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, from which it emerges that Intellexa had joined, after internal consultations and pressure that appears to have also come from ministerial executives, a consortium of innovative companies (cluster), which aspired to obtain certain funds for its financing.

As Mr. Lambropoulos said, the Center for Security Studies is a center that has been under the ancient Police, the Ministry of Citizen Protection, for the last 15-20 years.

The mandate was to collaborate with the specific consortium, of which Intellexa was a part, in order to finance the consortium and finance Intellexa through it, to produce an artificial intelligence crime prevention product.

As the police editor said, it seems that a specific manager of the consortium that was exclusively related to artificial intelligence was instructed to contact the managers of Intellexa. The documents describe a meeting at the office of Mr. Yannis Lavranos, who is one of the four convicted, and a meeting at the Intellexa offices with the Israelis. It is described that ministerial officials were also present at these meetings.

Intellexa therefore appears from the documents to have been included in the relevant proposal and is proposed as an audio and video analyzer, without specifying exactly what it would do.

At the same time, it is revealed that this company, the consortium, also signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Hellenic Police. And furthermore, as the "Vima" article describes, the cluster's managers said that in some rounds of meetings, in addition to Mr. Lavranos' offices, they had also visited the KETIAX offices in Agia Paraskevi and were shown the area where Predator was located.

Zacharias Kesses, a lawyer for Predator victims, referred to these revelations while speaking on the show "Developments Now".

"Now the lies, the excuses and the watertightness are over. And after the shocking revelation of Mr. Lambropoulos' entire journalistic team, as well as what will emerge in the coming days, I think some people should simply be concerned with how we will remember them in the future. The document is shocking for the following reasons. We are talking about KEMEA. KEMEA is the Center for Security Studies, a very sensitive service. It is the state's technical advisor on security issues that specializes in borders, terrorism and cybersecurity. In order for someone to get in there, there must be either recommendations or guarantees. We are talking about a service that is housed in the same building as EYP. We are talking about a service that no random person can contract with. So we have a contractual text that connects Intellexa with a very sensitive state body.

»There must also be guarantees in order to contract with KEMEA. Its commander is a former commander of EYP. In order for someone to contract with it, a check must have been made as to who this company is. From this you understand that when KEMEA contracted with Intellexa they knew very well that Intellexa only sells spyware. Also keep the following in mind and it is very important. This is the first time that we have essentially a description of the Predator spyware in a conventional text. Because if someone reads the text carefully, they will find that it describes the existence of a platform for analyzing very large volumes of data, big data analytics. It is this product that was identified in the trial of the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of the Athens Court as an integral part of Predator.

"Let me remind you that at the time the company was contracting with KEMEA, which falls under the Ministry of Citizen Protection and was requesting funding, European funding from the Ministry of Development, during the same period in March-April 2021, it was ensnaring the Minister of Citizen Protection, Mr. Chrysochoidis, and the Minister of Development, Mr. Georgiadis. Responding to whether this report should be included in the investigation, he said: "It is a given that it will be included.
