Glenn Greenwald and three other journalists who exposed the NSA surveillance scandal from the documents leaked by Edward Snowden won the 2013 George Polk Journalism Award.
The awards are awarded each year by the University of Long Island for special achievements in journalism, particularly aptly in the research work.
Ο Ewen MacAskill and Laura Poitras, who worked for the publications that scandalized the scandal with him GreenwaldIn The Guardian, and Barton gellman of The Washington Post were also awarded for their work that came with Snowden's leaks.
Thirty total journalists received awards Polk for 13 different categories. THE Pete Hamill, its former editor-in-chief New York Post and the Daily News newspaper, won the George Polk Career Award.
