Gmail for Android is finally getting the Select All feature

The Gmail app for Android smartphones and tablets will soon get a very handy feature that has been available for years in the web version. On the web Gmail allows selecting multiple emails at once from the toolbar. It allows users to mark emails as read, move or delete them.

This option is not yet available in Gmail's Android app, which forces users to manually select multiple emails one by one. That will soon change as the “Select All” feature has been spotted in the latest beta version of the Gmail app for Android.select all

Ο user of X @AssembleDebug discovered that the Gmail app, version number 2023.08.20.561750975, allows users to bulk select emails at once. The new feature appears as a “Select All” button once you select an email. Once you press the “Select All” button, the app selects the first fifty emails.

To select more emails, you will need to scroll down and tap the “Select All” button again. At present, it is not clear why Google has limited the choice of emails to only fifty.

Once you tap the “Select All” button, the button is replaced with the “Unselect All” option, allowing you to deselect all selected emails at once.

At this time, we don't know when the new feature will be released in the stable version. It is worth mentioning that there is no news about this feature for the Gmail app on iOS. Google usually brings new features to the Gmail app for Android first and then for iOS.
