Google today announced the new Android 7.1 Developer Preview. The preview is expected to be released later this month while the final version is scheduled for December.

Later this month, Google will make available the new Android 7.1 Developer Preview, so developers can test how to get the most out of the new version. Preview Developer will be distributed through the preletterof Beta Android.
The Android 7.1 Developer Preview will initially be released for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and the Appliances Pixel C. Other devices to follow by the end of the preview.
The final release will be released in early December for the Nexus 6, 5X, 6P, 9, Player, Pixel C, and Android One. The new Pixel and Pixel XLs will be updated in December.
