Some of you may not know, but Google has released a special app for Windows users. It's essentially a way to display Google services, and quickly access them to increase your productivity.
Google announced it as a Search Labs experiment in September 2025, but has now reportedly updated the project with new features.
Although Google hasn't specified exactly what's new, it did say that the app has been "upgraded" for Windows users. In its brief blog post , the company mentions AI features, such as AI Mode, in which you can ask your questions and get answers from artificial intelligence.
The Google app for Windows desktop is certainly interesting. We could say that it's a bit faster than opening Google Chrome and using Google Search from there.
But is it really worth having a dedicated app just to save those 1-2 seconds?
