In March, Google announced that it would change the Chrome release cycle. The new fixed versions will come every 4 weeks. Today, explain how and when he will do it.
“To deliver new features faster to consumers, while also continuing to prioritize Chrome’s core pillars – security, stability, speed, and simplicity – Chrome will move to a 4-week stable channel starting with version 96 in Q4,” Google’s Marina Kazatcker said .
"To bridge the gap between the M94 when Chrome moves in a four-week cycle and the M96, Chrome will not release a version [version 95]."
Google will release version 94 of Chrome in the third quarter of 2021. Then, starting with version 96, it will release new versions of the browser every 4 weeks, instead of every 6 weeks allowed by the current release cycle.
During this time, Google will also create a new traffic channel with an update rate every 6 months for business and education users.
Details of the latest change will be released soon, the company said.
As you may know, Microsoft will also adopt the new Chrome release program for its own Edge browser. So maybe Edge won't release a version either.
George is still wondering what he is doing here….
