Google Chrome: the end of Flash since September

Google Chrome has decided to stop support for Adobe Flash. Although we've heard it many times without seeing it happening, this time the browser will stop Flash and only use HTML5.

Slow distancing from Flash starts in September when it comes with the upcoming Chrome 53. rip adobe Google Chrome flash

The company says:

Today, more than 90% of Flash on works in and supports services such as Analytics. This kind of Flash slows you down, and starting next September, Chrome 53 will begin to prevent it. HTML5 is much lighter and faster. Moving publishers to this will speed up the loading of the page and save you more battery life. You'll see an improvement in responsiveness and efficiency across many websites.

The slow "murder" of Flash won't take long. Until the release of Chrome version 55 in December, Google plans to allow HTML5 as the only option for Chrome, unless a site only supports Flash.

If you visit one with Flash, Google will ask you to enable it for that page. HTML5 will always work as the default though.

Flash was good for its time, but we are in 2016…
