As it seems, an apology was not enough. If you remember, Google had to apologize for the image uploaded to Google Maps last month from the Map Maker map development application.
The image as you see above showed the company's green Android urinating the Apple logo. So today, the company stops Map Maker from developing maps until it can respond appropriately to malicious use.
Spam modifications to the company's map service have been staggered over the past few months, to the point where its team map Maker has a problem with supporting changes made by any user who has access to the tool.
Until then they discover a way to provide more security and control over this service, map processing will freeze from 12 May.
In a publication in the company forum a team member (Pavithra Kanakarajan) he says:
"We think it is fairer to say that since we do not have the ability to review all the changes at the pace that are coming, we should pause."
Google is trying to develop new ways to procedure revision to the changes made through Map Maker especially after the Android "trigger".
In the past the control it was extremely loose, and each edit had to be manually checked by those in charge. So it's unclear when service will return.
You can imagine that to develop a reliable tool control it will probably take some time.
