Today we live in a world where almost everyone agrees that anyone under the age of 18 is a child and has a right to special care and . But something like this did not happen in the past either. It was only after November 20, 1989, when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, that humanity began to benefit from a set of rights for all children and young people.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child is the world's first legally binding code of rights for all children to enjoy. It sets basic principles for the well-being of children in their various stages of development and consists of 54 articles.

The Convention was initiated by Poland s and hers , υιοθετήθηκε ομόφωνα απο τη Γεν. Συνέλευση του on Nov. 20, 1989 and entered into force in 1990.

To date, it has been validated by almost all countries of the world, while in Greece 1992 has been ratified (Government Gazette 192 / 2.12.92).
