Google plans to bring its games Android on Windows PCs next year. The Google Play Games app will be available in 2022. It was built by Google to allow games from Google Play to run on Windows laptops, tablets and PCs.
"From 2022, gamers will be able to enjoy their favorite games from Google Play on more devices: phones, tablets, Chromebooks and soon on Windows PCs," said Greg Hartrell, Google Product Manager for Android Games . in The Verge.
"This product created by Google brings the best of Google Play Games to more laptops and desktops and we are excited to expand our platform so that players can enjoy their favorite Android games even more."
Google spokesman Alex Garcia-Kummert Reported to The Verge that the company has built this app on its own, which means Google hasn't partnered with Microsoft, BlueStacks, or anyone else. The upcoming app will also allow players to continue gaming on desktops, even if they're playing on a phone, tablet or Chromebook.
For now, Google has featured the app on duration των The Game Awards, and promised to release it sometime next year. It's not yet clear what technology Google used to emulate Android apps on Windows, but the games will run locally rather than streaming from the cloud.
"It will be a native Windows application distributed by Google. "It will support Windows 10 and later," says Hartrell.
Google's announcement comes months after Microsoft decided to test Android applications on computers running Windows 11. Microsoft has even created the Windows Subsystem for Android, which can run Android applications from various sources. The company partnered with Amazon to allow Windows users to install games and applications from the Amazon Appstore, but its native support Google Play will not be officially available through the Microsoft application.
