It is called Art Camera, created for the Google Cultural Institute that wants to photograph artworks from museums around the world, archive and preserve them.
Google reports that the camera it's so powerful, you can zoom in to see all the strokes and drips of oil paint in a Van Gogh painting, for example.
The photography will be done piece by piece, to capture extremely high ressolutions from every part of it pictureς. Google has manufactured 20 only Art Cameras that will be used for filing purposes and are currently photographing 2D.
