Google: Schedule for the new Hangouts Chat

Google announced it March of 2017 that it will split Hangouts into two core apps – Hangouts Chat, a Slack-like tool for groups, and Hangouts Meet, a Skype-style video conferencing.

So, simple users as well as G Suite users will be transferred from the classic Hangouts sometime within 2019. Today the company has released it a timetable.google

From April 16, Hangouts Chat will be available on the web for G Suite users who have classic Hangouts enabled but will not replace just the classic Hangouts. From April to September of 2018, the various Hangouts features will be added to Chat, and in October, the classic app will stop working.
