Η Google is preparing to shut down its dedicated Street View app on Android, keeping its functionality within the Google Maps app.
Google Street View is an easy way to take a 360-degree look at almost any street on the planet, perfect for getting a feel for your next travel destination or simply exploring the world from the comfort of your own home. While the Google Maps app has long offered an easy way to get into Street View, there's also a dedicated Street View app for Android and iOS.
This standalone app served two separate groups of people – those who wanted to explore Street View in depth and those who wanted to upload their own 360 images. Considering that the popular Google Maps app supports Street View and Google offers a web app “Street View Studio” for those who like to upload footage, it should come as no surprise that the company is preparing to shut down its Street View app.
In the last information, version 2.0.0.484371618, Google has added alerts cancellation/termination operation of the Street View application.
These notifications are not yet visible in the app as of today, but 9to5Google managed to activate them.
In the notice, Google confirms that the Street View app will end on March 31, 2023, encouraging users to switch to the Google Maps app or Street View Studio.
