Google forces YouTube Vanced, a popular YouTube app for Android, to close "for legal reasons"
With the introduction of YouTube Vanced because you requested it, the service goes for closing !!. The popular YouTube Vanced app has been shut down following a legal threat from Google. The creators of Vanced revealed on Twitter that the project will close in the next few days, and the download links will be removed.
Although the app will continue to work for anyone who currently has it installed on Android, it will have no future updates and so it is likely to stop working at some point soon. The owners of Vanced say they were forced to suspend the project "for legal reasons".
Google recently sent a letter of cessation request to Vanced owners, forcing developers to stop distributing and developing the app. "We were asked to remove all references to YouTube, change the logo and remove all links related to YouTube products," said one Vanced Administrator.
For information, Vanced is a popular third-party YouTube app for Android because it allows YouTube users to block all ads without a Premium subscription. Vanced also includes a real dark theme and tweaks not offered in the official YouTube app for Android.
Vanced is the latest victim of Google's crackdown on third-party applications that have access to YouTube. Google-owned YouTube last year forced two popular music bots, Groovy Discord and Rythm Discord, to go offline before trying to integrate YouTube into Discord.
