Google forces YouTube Vanced, a popular YouTube app for Android, to close "for legal reasons"
With the introduction of YouTube Vanced because you requested it, the service goes for closing !!. The popular YouTube Vanced app has been shut down following a legal threat from Google. The creators of Vanced revealed on Twitter that the project will close in the next few days, and the download links will be removed.
Although the app will continue to work for anyone who currently has it installed on Android, it will have no future updates and so it is likely to stop working at some point soon. The owners of Vanced say they were forced to suspend the project "for legal reasons".
Google recently sent Vanced owners a cease and desist letter, which forced the developers to stop distributing and developing the app. "We have been asked to remove all references to 'YouTube', change the logo and remove all links related to YouTube products," says an administrator from team Vanced.
FYI, Vanced is a popular third-party YouTube app for Android because it allows YouTubers to block all ads without a subscription Premium. Vanced also includes a true dark theme and customizations not offered in the official YouTube app for Android.
Vanced is the latest victim in Google's crackdown on third-party apps accessing YouTube. Google-owned YouTube forced two popular music bots, Groovy Discord and Rythm Discord, out of business last year connections, before starting to test the YouTube integration in Discord.
