Google Liftware: Google is not investing money in large projects but in humble spoons. These spoons are more than just a basic utensil: Using hundreds of algorithms, they will allow people with diseases such as Parkinson's disease to enjoy their food without shedding it.
The technology in question senses how a hand shakes and enables instant adjustments to the utensil to keep it balanced. In clinical trials, Liftware spoons showed reduced respmovement of the spoon by an average of 76 percent.
"We want to help people in their daily lives and hopefully understand the disease better in the long term," said Ms.faceof Google Katelin Jabbari.
"It's like a novel," said neurologist Dr. Jill Ostrem, who specializes in movement disorders like Parkinson's and works at UC san francisco Medical Center.
She also helped with the project, advising the inventors and testing it device, finding that it offered several advantages to some of her patients.
"I have some patients who couldn't eat by themselves, they needed someone to feed them. Now they can eat by themselves," he said. "It doesn't cure her disease αλλά είναι μια πολύ θετική change. "
