Google Meet displays a 360-degree virtual background

The Meet shows you with a new dynamic background that changes as you move the phone or you, making it look like you're calling from somewhere exotic.

Google, Meet

Google Meet launches a new feature in your communications. In your video calls it will show behind you a virtual 360 degree background. It's available on both iOS and Android and uses your device's gyroscope to move the background with you as you turn your phone.

As you can see in the GIF, the 360 degree background will change depending on the position of your phone or tablet. So if you move your phone left or right, your background will adjust to show different scenery.

Google, Meet

Google says users can apply "several" new 360-degree backgrounds during video calls, including one showing a beach and another featuring a temple.

Although the feature looks very nice, the animated background can be distracting to your conversation partner if you are constantly moving your phone.
