Google: Pixel and Pixel XL are here

Όπως ήταν αναμενόμενο, η Google παρουσίασε σήμερα τα δύο νέα smartphones της που είχαμε ακούσει από δίαφορες φήμες στο διαδίκτυο στο “October 4 hardware event“: Τα Pixel και Pixel XL είναι εδώ, διαθέσιμα για προ- starting today, and according to the company are the first phones to be "designed inside and outside of Google."

Just like with Nexus devices, hardware is not usually the big deal of the phones (although a 15-minute charge gives up to 7 hours of battery life).

It's the software: Devices come with Google Assistant wherever you are on the phone. The two Pixels are the first phones with Google Assistant, which you can access by pressing and holding the home button or with the well-known voice command "OK, Google".

The two Pixels come with Android Nougat, which can receive all updates. This means that all that is needed is a re of the device and you will have the latest released version. Google's latest two apps, Allo and Duo, come pre-installed.

Both Pixels run with quad-core processors clocked at 2.15GHz, 64-bit, 4GB RAM and 32 or 128GB storage space. They feature a main camera at 12.3MP, and an 8MP front. At the top you will find a headphone jack, a fingerprint scanner on the back, and a USB-C port at the bottom. The big differences between the two devices are in size, since the screen is 5-inch versus 5,5 inch, and the battery in 2770mAh versus 3450mAh.

Live Cases will be available on both phones, allowing you to use images from and Google Trends.

Google has introduced the rear camera of the devices as the "best smartphone camera ever built." We will see this, of course.gp

With Pixel smartphones, Google is essentially replacing the Nexus line, or at least putting it on hold until next year. The pixels "G" logo rather tries to make a difference, although the device still resembles the look and feel of the Nexus.

The Pixels were manufactured by HTC and unlike the Nexus phones, you will not see the company logo on these devices.

In the US, Pixels will be released exclusively for Verizon in Really Blue, Very Silver and Quite Black versions and will be available for sale from the Google Store for 649 dollars. The devices will also be released in the UK, Canada, Germany and Australia.
