Google Play Store malicious VPN apps with 500 million downloads

The Google Play Store continues to have problems by detecting malware. Whatever the company does, malicious applications continue to appear and of course there are many who install them.

Independent security researcher Andy Michael from New Zealand He discovered four different VPN applications for Android with a total download of over 500 millions.

Applications are adware which do not only display in the background, but also of applications, in the original of each device.

The apps in question are Hotspot VPN, Free VPN Master, Secure VPN, and Security Master by Cheetah . Notably, all of these apps come from Hong Kong and China, where almost all mobile device owners use VPNs to bypass the Great Firewall.

Apps continue to exist in the Google Play Store until now.
