Google has launched a new Mobile Vision framework API that allows Android developers to incorporate OCR features in their applications.

Additionally developers will be able to use it to organize photos that contain text, or automate data entry from credit cards, receipts and business cards.
It can also be used to incorporate translation features through Cloud and the Google Translate API. Alternatively, developers can use it to enable accessibility features through Android TextToSpeech.
The company also has an overview of how to integrate OCR functionality into Android applications.
On the other hand, Google downloads Mobile Vision to 9.0 as it indicates a serious bug and alerted developers to avoid adding new features until the problem is resolved.
The Mobile Vision API was released last year with Barcode and Face Recognition APIs. In addition to face recognition, applications could also identify a person's features, such as eyes, nose and mouth, as well as "understand" whether the faces are smiling or whether the person's eyes are open.
