Google says it plans to spend more than $ 7 billion on US real estate in 2021 as it continues to spend after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Η company said that the money intended to expand offices and data centers in 19 states, creating at least 10.000 full-time jobs. About $1 billion is earmarked specifically for California.
The parent company of Google A halted real estate spending last year after the pandemic and Google's first annual decline in revenue in the second quarter of last year.
Data center extensions are coming as the company is rapidly growing its cloud business. The company, in its latest earnings report, revealed that it lost $ 5,61 billion of revenue of $ 13,06 billion last year.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian told investors last month that he was focusing on business growth and profitability.
The company plans to return its workers to the office starting in the fall. THE Pichai previously said Google wouldn't adopt a permanent one program workforce, expecting most employees to show up at their assigned offices three days a week starting in September.
As part of the expansion, Pichai said the company will add thousands of new roles to its offices in Atlanta, Washington DC, Chicago and New York.
The company plans to open new offices in Seattle, Houston and Mississippi. It is in the process of planning several massively evolving projects in various cities, such as near its headquarters in Mountain View, California, where it is adding new homes.
