Did you buy or download a movie that does not have Greek subtitles? No problem, Google is here. The company has the service Google Translator Toolkit which will allow you to translate the subtitles (no it does not translate by ear) one foreignof language in Greek.
The Google Translator Toolkit is a Google web service that requires a company account. Once you sign in to your account, you can get started right away.
The service supports translation into SubRip (SRT) and SubViewer (SUB) subtitle formats only. If your subtitles are in a different format, you should convert them first so you can translate them correctly. Of course there are online subtitle conversion services, converting all formats SRT, STL, SCC, ASS and TTML.
The translation can be done after uploading the subtitle file to the service. Select upload of the file and select a file supported by the system. You can still copy and paste the subtitles directly to the translation website.
You can then select the language you want the subtitles to be translated into. Click the Next button to start the procedure.
The translation will take a moment. The website will direct you to an advertising page where you can order a professional translation. Just one click is needed to skip this step.
This click will return you to the translation page of the Google Translator Toolkit. From there you can download the translated file.
Of course you should already know that every machine translation has quirks and translation errors. You may still come across some words that have not been translated. But if she is your only one choice, it sure is better than nothing.
