OpenAI introduced on Thursday the GPT-4o mini, an economic AI model that will replace GPT-3.5 Turbo in ChatGPT.
Priced at 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million output tokens, GPT-4o mini is more than 60% cheaper than GPT-3.5 Turbo, OpenAI reports.
It currently outperforms the GPT-4 model in conversation preferences and scored 82% in Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU), according to OpenAI.
MMLU is a text and logic intelligence benchmark used to evaluate the capabilities of language models. A higher score on the MMLU means he can better understand and use the language in a variety of domains, enhancing real-world usage.
The GPT-4o mini-model score was 77,9% for Google's Gemini Flash and 73,8% for Anthropic's Claude Haiku, according to OpenAI.
With the mini model currently supporting text and vision via an application programming interface (API), OpenAI said support for text, image, video and audio input and output will be available in the future.
