H αμφιλεγόμενη υπηρεσία διανομής μουσικής Grooveshark είναι offline μετά από 10 χρόνια λειτουργίας. Ένα μήνυμα που δημοσιεύτηκε από τους διαχειριστές της ιστοσελίδας αναφέρει ότι η Grooveshark μετανιώνει για τον τρόπο που λειτουργούσε, που προκάλεσε damage to major record labels, and recommends to subscribers users of histoσελίδας να χρησιμοποιήσουν άλλες νόμιμες services like Spotify or Beats Music.
The company's statement seems to be "guided" by the record companies which was the reason for the suspension of its services Grooveshark.
The statement states:
Today Grooveshark closes.
We started almost ten years ago with the goal of helping music lovers share and discover music. But despite our best intentions, we made some very serious mistakes. We failed to secure permission from the rights holders for the huge volumes of music that were on the service.
That was wrong. We apologize. Without reservation.
As part of the settlement agreement with the major record labels, we have agreed to cease operating the service immediately, delete all data from our servers and surrender ownership of this website, our mobile applications, patents and copyrights.
If you love music and respect artists, songwriters and all who help create music, use a licensed service.

Let's say last week, a judge imposed a higher fine on 150 for thousands of dollars for each song that is considered to be infringing on intellectual property rights. The trial was under way around 5000 songs, which means Grooveshark could be charged hundreds of millions of dollars for compensation.
After so much pressure closing down the company should come as no surprise…
