The Ubuntu 20.04 LTS was officially released this week as one of the most anticipated updates for a long time, and now it looks like Canonical is starting to cook the next big release later in 2020.
Ubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla will therefore be the next major Ubuntu update after the 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa).
The Groovy Gorilla version is expected to be officially released in beta this summer, while the feature-freeze is scheduled for late August. In this phase, developers stop adding new features to complete the development process. Then they'll focus on bugfixes of the features they've added.
If all goes well according to schedule, the Ubuntu 20.10 version will be released on October 22 as the final version, according to the release schedule. The final freeze and the release candidate are set for October 15.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the new Ubuntu LTS 20.04, which was recently released.
