The next big Ubuntu distribution update will be called Groovy Gorilla and will be released in the fall, according to the release schedule announced by Canonical.
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS was officially released this weekteam as one of the most anticipated updates in a long time, and now it looks like Canonical has started cooking up the next big release that will come later in 2020.
Ubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla will therefore be the next major Ubuntu update after the 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa).
Η version Groovy Gorilla is expected to be officially released in beta this summer, with the feature-freeze stage scheduled for late August. In this phase, developers stop adding new ones possibilities to complete the procedure development. Then they'll focus on bugfixes of the features they've added.
If all goes well according to schedule, the Ubuntu 20.10 version will be released on October 22 as the final version, according to the release schedule. The final freeze and the release candidate are set for October 15.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the new Ubuntu LTS 20.04, which was recently released.
