A Android bug that reportedly affects about a billion smartphone owners is not going to be fixed by Google.
The bug is for all versions of the bug Android from the 4.3 and lower versions of the WebView component of the operating system, while the 4.4 and 5.0 versions remain unaffected. Essentially, the component allows webpages to be viewed by some applications without the need to open the smartphone browser.
Google states that it is very difficult to fix the problem, especially in older versions of the operating system such as Jelly Bean, while in newer versions the problem is fixed by itself, since WebView has been removed from the main operating system and has been turned into an app that can be downloaded from Google Play.
This problem is estimated to affect about 60% of Android users while Google states that anyone who wants to make a patch to fix this problem can do so, just that Google itself does not intend to do anything to correct it .
The news about this problem has emerged shortly after Google itself had identified a loophole security in Windows 8.1, before Microsoft can do anything about it.
