Microsoft no longer offers choice of browsers

Microsoft is no longer required to offer the option to European users activating Windows for the first time.

Microsoft

As part of its conviction for monopolistic practices, Microsoft was required to give European consumers the ability to choose which browser they wish to use over the Internet , as they activate their operating system.

Its obligation Microsoft to do this is now over and so the is under no obligation to give such a choice to new Windows users. However, the company urges consumers who want to download a browser other than Internet Explorer to do so directly from their creators' websites.
