Hackers leaked information they stole about COVID-19 vaccines following an attack targeting the European Union medical service, the agency admitted today.
The attack on the European Medicines Agency (EMA) by European Medicines Agency) was first revealed last month and it has now been found that those behind the hack gained access to information on coronavirus drugs.
"The ongoing research of the EMA attack revealed that some of the leaked documents related to third-party-owned COVID-19 drugs and vaccines. Law enforcement action is required,” the EMA said in a statement.
"The agency continues to fully support the criminal investigation into her infringement data and notify any additional entities and individuals whose documents and personal data may have been subject to unauthorized access," the EMA adds.
The work of the EMA and the European Medicines Regulatory Network does not appear to be affected by the breach as the authorization and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines has not been discontinued.
The investigation into the attack is still on development.
