Η Harley-Davidson will present its first electric motorcycle next weekteam, and President Matt Levatich said he expects the company known for its grand touring motorcycles to become a leader in the development of technology and standards in electric vehicles.

That particular project carries several risks for Harley-Davidson as it is quite a pioneer. At the moment there is almost no market for electric motorcycles of the size we are used to knowing from the company. The electric two-wheelers sold each year are almost exclusively low-powered scooters aimed at the Chinese market. One analyst said such investment by a major manufacturer could help generate demand, and Levatich stressed in an interview with The Associated Press that Harley has a long-term vision regardless of immediate demand.
