This particular project poses several hazards for Harley-Davidson as it is quite pioneering. At present, there is hardly any market for electric motorcycles the size we get to know from the company. Electric bikes sold every year are almost exclusively low-power scooters targeted at the Chinese market. An analyst said such investments from a major manufacturer could contribute to demand, and Levatich stressed in an interview with the Associated Press that Harley has one for long-term vision, regardless of direct demand.
