Yes, it's now possible to unlock a Windows Lumia phone, get root access and run your own ROMs.
Both Microsoft and Nokia have made Windows Lumia smartphones hard to jailbreak at a low level by locking their bootloaders, but a software hacker named Heathcliff has just released a nifty tool called “Windows Phone Internals” which allows owners mobile windows phones to unlock them and get them root access and even create and execute their own Rom.
The tool supports most versions of Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Mobile 10. The full list is Lumia 520, 521, 525, 620, 625, 720, 820, 920, 1020 and 1320
Heathcliff is a very good acquaintance of XDA Developer and one of the legends of Windows Phone. In the Windows Phone circles it has been a favorite with WP7 Root Tools. His new tool, "Windows Phone Internals" or WPI is completely free to download and Heathcliff simply thanks everyone who wants to donate it.
