The competition Developer Drone Drop IBM's 2019 has officially begun. From today until June 16, the company will award $1.500 (the price of a DJI drone) to the winning developers who take part in the contest.
Why does IBM offer free drones? He hopes that you will use them to develop applications with AI technology that can help in case of natural disasters.
The competition officially started last week, but there is plenty of time for it enrollment your. You don't need to be an expert or have already created one application to take part. Winners will be chosen at random and not by judges. Winners will win more than just a drone, according to IBM:
The DJI Tello drone is more than just a cool prize. We'll give you code patterns to unlock its potential, and introduce you to new skills around visual recognition, AI and machine learning.
" The DJI Tello drone is more than just a prize. We'll provide you with code templates to unlock the drone's capabilities, and introduce you to new skills around visual recognition, AI and machine learning."
The giveaway comes from Code and Response of IBM, a new initiative launched this year by the company. IBM aims to empower developers with the necessary resources and to support the implementation of innovative technological solutions to the problems of humanity.
Charismatic developers who may not have access to resources and IBM mentors seem to be a strategy that already pays off for the company.
One of last year's hackathon winners, Pedro Cruz, developed an app that helped relieve people affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in Puerto Rico.
