Intel today announced the resignation of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Krzanich, invoked infringement of company policy. CFO Bob Swan will serve as interim CEO while the company searches for its next top executive.
The resignation of Krzanich was immediately implemented. Krzanich also resigned from his position on Intel's board. It appears that the company has a policy of zero tolerance for violations of the code of conduct and Krzanich according to a press release from the company:
Intel has been notified recently that Mr. Krzanich had a consensual relationship with an Intel employee. An ongoing investigation by internal and external counsel confirmed a violation of Intel's code of conduct policy, which applies to all administrators. Given our expectation that all employees will respect Intel's values and abide by the company's code of conduct, the board has accepted Mr. Krzanich's resignation.
Intel is still recovering from the damage caused by the security flaws Meltdown and Specter. Such a scandal, until now kept internal, could spell trouble for shareholders if they got wind of it in the media.
Did we ever hear anything like this in Greece, or are they just happening out here?
