How would an i7-6700K processor clocked at 6.50GHz look to you? No, it's not science fiction. The Intel Core i7-6700K “Skylake”Overclockes to 6.50GHz, with the help of liquid nitrogen.
A Polish overclocking company managed to overclock the Intel Core i7-6700K processor from the default 4000MHz to an incredible 6531MHz without theactivation of technology by Intel Hyper-Threading.
The voltage to supply the core had to be increased to 2.032V, and at the same time they used liquid nitrogen to cool the chip.
MSI was used Gaming Z170 mainboard with DDR4 RAM.
As experts say, if Hyper Threading is deactivated and the last limit imposed by Intel on the CPU, Skylake could reach even higher speeds of 7.5GHz and maybe even at 8GHz.
Bearing in mind that Skylake's overclocking capabilities are so extreme, since it stays stable at 5.20GHz with just air cooling, we are likely to see much improved overclocking over the next generations.
