From the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate, two (2) cases of fraud with and a case file was filed, as part of a Preliminary Examination, following Orders from the Prosecutors' Offices of Thebes and Athens, respectively, against a 50-year-old citizen for ongoing Internet fraud.

In particular, last August, at Thebes Security Department, an individual was convicted, who complained that he had been the victim of fraud by unknown offenders by the method of posting a vehicle for sale on the Internet.

Specifically, according to the complaint, unknown people posted on the Internet, a sale of agricultural machinery, against the amount of (17.200) euros.

According to the complaint, the complainant contacted the alleged seller, who informed him that the vehicle was in the UK and advised him to contact a UK-based shipping company, which would also take the vehicle to the Greece, after payment of a sum of money.

The individual contacted by e-mail representatives of the above alleged company and was convinced to pay the sum of (3.617) euros as an advance payment, to a bank account of a bank based in the United Kingdom, in order to of the agricultural machine, but he never received said machine.

In addition, in April 2014 from another private person was charged with the Electronic Crime Prosecution Division, according to which he had been the victim of fraud by unknown actors, using the same method and the same way of acting.

In this case, the individual had identified on a Greek website on the Internet, an announcement of a luxury LEX sale. car, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, for forty six thousand two hundred (46.200) euros.

In the telephone conversation with the alleged seller, he was advised to contact the same carrier and subsequently, by the aforementioned method, he was persuaded to pay the sum of three thousand four hundred and fifty (3.450) euros as an advance, to a bank account based United Kingdom, and never received this particular car.

A thorough digital investigation was carried out by the Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime and following relevant orders from the District Attorneys' Offices of Thebes and Athens respectively and analysis of electronic traces and digital data – elements of the cases in question. Subsequently and after correspondence with the relevant internet and telephone service companies, the involvement of the 50-year-old citizen in both cases emerged.

Following the above, a search was carried out yesterday (27-10-2015) at the home of the 50-year-old citizen in of Attica, where a laptop was found and confiscated s computer, which will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination.

The file of the regular procedure that has been formed will be submitted to the competent Prosecutor's Office, while for the 50 chronology, the Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor's Office has also been formed in the past by the Prosecutor's Office for Related Criminal Offenses.
