Kanye West, the rapper who also goes by the name Ye, reached an agreement to buy Parler, a “non-free speech platform” that does not delete comments, both parties said in statements Monday. They said it was a move that would help people express their conservative opinions freely.
As part of the deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, Parler agreed to sell West the company outright, but the social network will continue to receive technical support from Parlement Technologies. Parlement Technologies will continue to have access to private cloud services and data center infrastructure.
The deal is expected to close this quarter. West, who has accused Meta and Twitter gia to of censoring him in recent weeks, said in a statement:
"In a world where conservative opinions are considered controversial, we need to make sure we have the right to express ourselves freely."
