KasperskyOS is a specialized operating system designed for embedded systems with strict digital security requirements. By design, KasperskyOS significantly reduces the chances of malfunctioning and thus mitigates the risk of digital attacks. After a huge business, for which Kaspersky needed to give her best for 15 years, KasperskyOS is now available for sale in Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Original Designers (ODM), System integrators and software developers around the world.
The basic applications of the operating system are specially adapted to the needs of the automotive and telecommunications industries, as well as to the critical infrastructure needs.
KasperskyOS introduces a secure, environmentally-friendly environment for ever-increasing embedded IoT systems and devices that are receiving more and more attacks. In a modern, connected world, where precious IoT devices are used by consumers, are utilized in critical infrastructures and control many aspects of our everyday life, the demand for a strong security approach is greater than ever.
Based on a new and fully-developed microkernel, it uses established security-oriented development principles such as Separation Kernel, Reference Monitor, Multiple Independent Levels of Security, and Flux Advanced Security Kernel. KasperskyOS was designed based on the requirements of specific industries and solves not only security issues but also deals with the organizational and business challenges involved in ensuring the development of applications for embedded systems.

The story
Andrey Doukhvalov, Head of Future Technologies and Chief Security Architect of Kaspersky Lab, comments: "The idea behind KasperskyOS appeared before 15 years when a small group of experts discussed an approach that would make it impossible to perform unrecognized functionality. Further research has revealed that such a design is very difficult to implement in the environment of a conventional, general-purpose operating system. To address this, we chose to create our own operating system that follows the universally adopted rules of safe development, but it also introduces many unique features, making it not only safe but also relatively easy to deploy in applications where the greatest demand is protection".
Eugene Kaspersky, President and CEO of Kaspersky Lab, comments: "Our operating system started when viruses were still the most serious cyber security problem - long before complex attacks on industrial systems occurred and long before every aspect of our lives began to depend entirely on computer systems. At that time, the concept of "security without limits" was certainly not on the agenda for the growing IT population. We understood from the outset that designing our own operating system would be a huge business - a task that would require enormous resources for many years before it could be marketed. Today we see a clear demand for enhanced security in critical infrastructure, telecommunications and finance, as well as consumer and industrial IoT devices. In the beginning, it was a risky investment that no other security provider had the courage to make. But today, thanks to our efforts, we have a product that provides the highest possible level of 'immunity' to digital attacks - a product based on principles that can be controlled independently. "
The idea
KasperskyOS is designed to allow programs to run only documented processes. Application development for KasperskyOS requires the creation of "traditional" code, as well as a rigorous security policy that defines all types of documented functionality. Only what is defined by this policy can be executed, including the functionality of the operating system itself. Such an approach proved to be very time consuming during KasperskyOS's development process, but it offers application developers a certain advantage: a security policy can grow alongside real functionality. The actual functionality can in fact be immediately tested: an error in the code means unrecognized behavior, which is blocked by the operating system. More importantly, the development of a security policy can be tailored to business needs: security can be adapted to the requirements of the application, not the
Andrey Nikishin, Head of Future Technologies Business Development, comments: "There is no such thing as 100% security, but it does KasperskyOS guarantees our customers the first 99%. From a technical point of view, in a really complex environment, efforts to introduce a specific code into our system can not be successful. Our advantage is that, since any malicious function is not recorded by security policy, being an integral part of any application makes it impossible to carry out the payload. Therefore, the KasperskyOS, is immune from the typical digital threats of today. "
Installation flexibility
KasperskyOS is not a generic operating system. It meets the requirements and is designed for embedded devices, addressing three main sectors: telecommunications, automotive and industry. In addition, Kaspersky Lab is also developing deployments for the financial industry (POS terminal security and thin client PS) and enhancing the security of critical operations for Linux-based generic systems and terminal points in particular. The easiness of installation is achieved with three packages that apply specific features of KasperskyOS.
The KasperskyOS offers maximum security, although its requirements bring a further challenge to a client's development process. It can be used as a basis for building devices such as network routers, IP cameras or IoT controllers. It addresses the needs of the telecommunications industry, critical infrastructure applications and the emerging development of Internet of Things.
The Kaspersky Secure hypervisor at a slightly reduced cost, makes it possible to run applications with strict control over the way they communicate with each other. It addresses the needs of telecommunications, the automotive industry and can also be used for general safety purposes, up to the safe operation of the terminal points.
The Its Security System Kaspersky integrates security into conventional operating systems as well as other embedded and real-time operating systems with minimal overhead deployment costs.
Availability
KasperskyOS is available for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), Original Designers (ODM), system integrators, and software developers around the world. Successful projects have already been carried out with the Russian Kraftway Systems Integrationrouter secure network), SYSGO (enhanced security for the real-time PikeOS operating system with Kaspersky's security system) and the European integrator of BE.services (integration of KasperskyOS technology into the specialized Programmable Logic Controllers). As a unique project, customized for each customer, KasperskyOS pricing varies according to requirements. More information about KasperskyOS, the Kaspersky Secure Hypervisor and the Kaspersky security system, as well as contact information for potential customers are available on one special website.
