On Tuesday, Microsoft released the expected cumulative updates for all supported versions of Windows 10. Windows 10 users, however, did not take long to start complaining on forums and socials.
There are many who claim that they do not can use their printers after installation of cumulative updates, while others report installation problems.
Cumulative updates KB5005565 and KB5005566 are causing the above issues. After implementing them into a system many report problems when using network printers.
They can no longer print documents using network printers, and the printers start working again when they manually uninstall the cumulative information using Settings or the command line.
"This update has ruined printer sharing for hundreds of offices in the United States," says one user.
Apparently the update was trying to fix once again the PrintNightmare vulnerability also known as CVE-2021-36958. The term PrintNightmware is used to describe a remote code execution vulnerability in Windows Print Spooler.
Attackers can gain administrator access to the machine. It is important to note that these cumulative updates are necessary to protect your devices, but if you are unable to use the print service, you may need to uninstall them temporarily.
In addition to printing problems, problems installing the above updates have also been reported. If you can't install the update, you can try it offline installer from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
