Microsoft released update KB5005932 for Windows 10 versions 2004, 20H2 and 21H1 on August 24, 2021. This update fixes the error 0x800F0984 (PSFX_E_MATCHING_BINARY_MISSING), which prevents Windows 10 from installing updates.
This error exists in different versions of Windows 10 (from version 2004 onwards). The update is optional and will not be done automatically.
Microsoft published the page supports KB5005322 titled KB5005322 - Some devices cannot install new updates after installing KB5003214 (May 25, 2021) and KB5003690 (June 21, 2021). In the support article, it states that installing updates KB5003214 and KB5003690 may prevent new cumulative updates (eg KB5004945, released on July 6, 2021, or other newer updates) from being installed on Windows 10.
Microsoft recommends that all affected users perform an in-place system upgrade. The in-place upgrade installs Windows 10 on top of the existing Windows 10 system so the existing older version is replaced or repaired. This approach preserves the archives, applications and system settings.
On August 24, 2021, Microsoft added to the support page that an in-place upgrade only helps systems that have been online for the past 30 days.
The company states that update KB5005932 is available for Windows 10 version 2004, 20H2 and 21H1. The update also includes a compatibility fix for Windows Setup in Windows 10 of the above versions. This allows the in-place upgrade to run on devices that cannot complete the installation of the latest cumulative update.
The update is available in the Microsoft Update Catalog. Microsoft is not aware of any issues with this update.
One solution, when it downloads the update files normally, but when it goes to install them it sends a message that it has a problem. In my case, even if I close the update, restart and re-download the files, it still sends a problem message. Also, when I download the huge file from Microsoft for offline installation of the update, it still gets a message about a problem.
I personally tried all the solutions on the market, until by chance he did the following and it worked:
Start> Run> type cleanmgr> in the window that appears I select them all> click OK> I accept the confirmation> I wait for it to clear them (it takes a while if there are enough files)> as soon as it is finished, the delete window closes itself.
Now, whenever there is a problem installing the update, this solution always works on my PC.
