According reports, Windows 5034204 update KB11 will not install on some and showing error 0x8007000d. Others experience problems with the taskbar and some cannot use File Explorer if the update is installed.
KB5034204 is one optional update for Windows 11 23H2/22H2 and Microsoft has already confirmed that it will not automatically download or install. If you haven't installed the update yet, it would be better to skip it due to possible problems.
Users on the Feedback Hub are reporting that KB5034204 cannot be installed, with error 0x8007000d being a common one. This happens even when the installation reaches 100%, with messages indicating missing files.
As you can see in the image above, Windows automatically rolls back the update after a failed installation attempt.
When that happens, you'll see it "Something didn't go as planned. No need to worry – undoing the changes. Please keep your computer open” on your screen.
Despite users' attempts to fix the issue by running the troubleshooter and system file checker (sfc), the problem persists for many.
But in addition to the installation problems, Windows 2024's optional January 11 update brings unexpected problems with File Explorer.
File Explorer is unresponsive for some, especially after the update failed to install. In some cases, the desktop screen goes blank for a while before returning. Others report that Windows gives an error message for explorer.exe on shutdown.
Others report that after installing KB5034204, they cannot interact with desktop icons such as Computer or the Recycle Bin, nor can they access taskbar icons.
"I had the same problem. As it is impossible to hide the update, the only current solution is to disable automatic updates,” it says a suspension on Reddit.
