Many people don't care about optional Windows updates. But those who install every update would notice problems with Windows 5036980 KB11, which added advertisements in the Start menu. Some of those who installed the optional update KB5036980 are experiencing problems, and Microsoft has confirmed the reports.
In one post on the Feedback Hub, several users have complained that they see error 0x80070520 when trying to change the profile picture on their account. The error mostly occurs on devices with a local account only, which means you won't see it if you're using a Microsoft account.
The bug prevents users from changing the photo profile because Windows 11 can no longer store the picture in AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\AccountPictures.
Microsoft responded to the Feedback Hub post to confirm that it is aware of the reports and has already made changes to internal builds. This means the May 2024 update will fix the problem in preview builds while the Patch Tuesday June 2024 will fix the bug to everyone.
"We work for one resolution and we will make an update available in an upcoming release," the company said.
How to make your profile picture in Windows 11
Open Explorer files, paste the following path in the address bar and press enter:
C:\Users\placeyourusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\AccountPictures
Manually add the profile picture of interest in .png format and Windows will use the image as your computer's profile picture.
